Vaginal atrophy is a condition that affects postmenopausal women, making them more prone to chronic vaginal infections. Urinary function problems also become more common and intercourse can be painful too.
The Fotona Dynamis is an advanced laser system that is used to perform RenovaLase treatments. These non-invasive treatments use Er:YAG wavelengths to create a photothermal effect within the vaginal canal.
Treatments are quick, safe and studies have proven this to be one of the most effective solutions for vaginal atrophy.
Once Dr Omarjee clears you for this treatment, the process is quick and easy.
RenovaLase treatments use controlled, laser-induced heating to stimulate angiogenesis, fibroblast activity and stimulate collagen production within the vaginal canal. Following several RenovaLase sessions, the thickness of the vaginal canal will improve, decreasing the likelihood of infection, dryness, itching and pain during intercourse. Due to the controlled nature of this treatment, thermal and ablative damage to the surrounding tissue can be avoided.
The average RenovaLase treatment lasts 20 to 30 minutes and no anaesthetic will be required prior to your session. Patients are free to return to their normal routine directly after their session.
While patients don’t need to take time off work or take any medication to benefit from RenovaLase treatments, multiple sessions will be required to achieve the desired result. Most patients require at least two to three RenovaLase treatments, with the final results being noticeable after about four months. Patients can expect the results to last for at least 6 months after their final session.
Some mild discomfort and sensitivity may be present directly after a RenovaLase session but this subsides within a few hours. Sexual activity, heavy lifting and strenuous exercise should be avoided for two weeks after your RenovaLase session. Tampons should not be used for a month.
Women who are currently going through menopause are ideal candidates for RenovaLase treatments. Because treatments also restore pelvic and vaginal strengths, women who have undergone multiple pregnancies will also benefit. Patients with estrogen-dependent cancer are ideal candidates for this treatment too.
No, treatments are not painful. If anything, patients can expect a warm and pinching sensation but nothing that requires an anaesthetic.
Studies have shown up to 100% thickening of the vaginal canal following a RenovaLase treatment plan. Patients also experienced more than a 95% reduction in pain during intercourse too.
The following treatments can be performed using this advanced laser technology:
Before any Fotona laser treatments are performed, a detailed consultation and examination process with Dr Omarjee will be required.
During your consultation, your unique concerns as well as your medical history will be reviewed to determine whether you’re an ideal candidate for this treatment.
