All treatments require a formal consultation with Dr Omarjee prior to any treatment. During this consultation patients concerns are critically assessed, and a formalized bespoke treatment plan is developed. This includes discussing the nature of treatment(s) proposed, alternative treatments, potential risk and relevant complications of the proposed treatment(s), aftercare instructions, and costs involved of the treatment(s). It also allows time for patient questions.

Keloid scarring includes serious scars that are likened to benign tumours, in that they form as large protruding scars. It can form as a result of a minor injury, serious injury, ear piercing or infection, as the immune system sends signals to create large amounts of scar tissue – more than the area needs to heal. This exaggerated inflammatory response causes extra scar tissue to form at the injury area for a protracted time (sometimes years!) that is covered in thinned, red, itchy and sensitive skin. Keloid scars seem to be occurring more commonly with the boom in daring ear jewellery and body modifications.
Keloid scarring can also cause ulcerations as the skin thins further. This scarring can extend beyond the original injury and can form spontaneously as well.

The DOC Clinic’s keloid scarring treatment is simple, effective and involves only mild, short-lived discomfort. A treatment plan is developed after a careful assessment of your history and size, shape and location of Keloid scar. A bespoke treatment will involve multiple steps to remove the keloid scar, and then minimize the risk of recurrence.
A combination of drugs with anti-inflammatory properties is injected into the scar to reduce the abnormal scar activity and hence shrink the scar tissue to create a flatter appearance. For larger keloid scars, surgical methods maybe needed. Other methods such as Healite 2 LED therapy, topical agents and laser can also be utilized.
Dr Ed Omarjee has more than 15 years’ experience performing keloid scar removal in Melbourne and overseas. He can determine the best keloid scar treatment for your needs after your first consultation.
Medical relevant consultations usually are eligible for a Medicare specific refund. (Cosmetic consultations are not Medicare eligible).

Excellent service, amazing results and reasonable prices. I will always return to The Doc Clinic for my future cosmetic appointments because Dr. Ed has heaps of experience and knowledge in the cosmetic field and is the only cosmetic clinic that I felt like they are not trying to sell me treatments.
