What areas can dermal injectables treat?

There are many patients who are not informed of the benefits and different uses of dermal injectables, other than the obvious forehead and smile lines. Below we have highlighted each section and how injectables can help you get the outcome you want.

This area is probably the commonest area patients receive anti-wrinkle injections to reduce or eliminate the “angry lines”. On average woman require 20 units of type USA antiwrinkle drug and males 30 units.

This area on average lasts for 3-4 months, but with regular treatments can prolong as one learns to frown less.

This area when treated can also sometimes reduce patients headaches.

Orbicularis Oris

The lines around the outer eye area are commonly addressed to reduce the lines that we associated with age. The treatment of these lines softens ones face and can open the eye area up, with an eyebrow lift if requested, giving an overall younger, softer appearance. On average woman and men require 20 units of antiwrinkle drug. The benefit usually lasts 3 -4 months.

The known “worry” lines are frequently addressed at same time patients treat the frown area, as it creates a more balanced look to the upper 1/3 of the face.

It is a muscle that needs to be respected as it is the only eyebrow elevator of the face. So the dose is usually on the lower hand to start with. On average woman require 6 to 10 units and males 10- 16 units of type USA antiwrinkle drug. The longevity is usually approximately 3 months.

Some people have strong lines of the upper nose area, especially when they frown or laugh. These lines can be softened with a small amount of anti-wrinkle drug. On average 6-8 units of type USA antiwrinkle drug is needed in male or females.

Orbicularis Oculi

As we all age, our faces change and one aspect that is commonly reported is the sagging upper eyelids. With carefully placed anti-wrinkle drug it is possible to elevate the outer eyebrows, the so-called chemical brow lift. On average it requires 6 to 8 units of type USA antiwrinkle drug.

Some people are concerned with their smile, in particular the exposure of the upper gum surface when they smile, which can affect their self-confidence. This is usually related to an overactive lip elevator muscle called levator labii superioris alaeque nasi, or more simply LLSAN. And can be easily improved with antiwrinkle injections. The longevity of benefit is usually 3-4 months.

Orbicularis Oris

The lines around the both that radiate from the lip surface upwards from the upper lip or downwards from the lower lip are called Lip wrinkles or “Smokers Lines”, even if you don’t smoke. Multiple factors influence the creation of these lines from sundamage, dental issues, smoking to name a few. The use of antiwrinkle drug in this area can improve these lines. But other treatments maybe required to fully eradicate smokers lines, such as Laser treatment. On average 4- 6 units of type USA antiwrinkle drug is needed in male or females.

The corners of our mouth are called the oral commisures. They are usually nicely horizontal as we are young and then become downward pointing as the dreaded numbers accumulate to our age. Eventually creating a sadder appearance to our lower face, called Marionette folds. It is possible to elevate the outer mouth area with carefully placed anti-wrinkle injections. This involves relaxing a muscle called Depressor Angularis Oris (“DAO”), and usually requires 6 to 8 units of type USA antiwrinkle drug in male or females.

The chin is a dynamic muscle called the Mentalis muscle. It creates a dimpling appearance that can be exaggerated. Softening of this area can improve the appearance of the lower face and reduce the risk of a groove occurring between the lower lip and tip of the chin. Only a small amount of anti-wrinkle drug is required for this area usually. On average 6-8 units of type USA antiwrinkle drug is needed in male or females.

The Nefertiti Lift

The jawline loses its sharp contours as one ages, with the creation of jowls and generalized loss of aesthetic definition. The muscles that contribute to this lower facial ageing are Mentalis, Depressor Angularis Oris (DAO), Platysma and Depressor Labii Inferioris (DLI). By relaxing some of these muscles, one can elicit a non-surgical like facelift that can reduce your jowls and improve the jawline shape. If one was to undergo the Nefertiti Lift every 4 months, it will aid in slowing the ageing of the lower face.

The Masseter muscles are large muscles on the lower lateral part of the face that aid in chewing. They sometimes can be overactive and lead to issues with grinding of the posterior teeth, headaches, and also increase in their size (called hypertrophy), giving the lower face a more bulky and rounded appearance. The simple injection of these muscles with an anti-wrinkle drug can reduce its strength and also size, resulting in the abolition or reduction in teeth grinding (“Bruxism”) or slimming of the face. The average starting dose for Bruxism or Facial slimming is 50 units for females and 60 units for males.

Excessive sweating of the armpit (axilla) is a common condition that can be managed very successfully with the administration of anti-wrinkle drug into the superficial skin of the axilla, to turn of the sweat glands. This treatment is quick and can last for 6 to 12 months with one treatment.

Facial Lines

Numerous lines that appear on the face due to the natural ageing process will become wrinkles. Frown lines between eyebrows, crow’s feet wrinkles around the eyes, upper lip lines and bunny lines are all a result of ageing, environmental factors and the things we do in our day to day lives.

The DOC Clinic provides clients with face injections for wrinkles that can reduce these visible aging signs.

Forehead Lines And Eye Wrinkles

Wrinkles around the eyes are one of the most common signs of ageing. Often referred to as ‘crow’s feet wrinkles’, they are caused by factors such as ageing, smoking, facial expressions and squinting in the sunlight. These life and environmental factors result in diagonal lines around the eyes which become wrinkles. Fortunately, there are injections for eyebrows that require no surgery and can help create a more youthful appearance. A non surgical eyebrow lift involves small doses of anti-wrinkle injections that block the nerve impulses causing these facial muscles to contract and form wrinkles. Results from an eyebrow lift without surgery typically last 3-4 months, and when administered by an experienced cosmetic physician like Dr Omarjee, the eyebrows look completely natural and not overdone.

Neck Bands And The Nefertiti Neck Lift

As we age, our skin loses elasticity and gravity beings to pull our facial muscles down. Anti-wrinkle treatment can prevent this downward movement, resulting in a more defined bone structure, neck, and facial contour. On average, 24 to 30 units of anti-wrinkle injections are required to achieve a good result with neck wrinkle treatment, which will last approximately three to four months.

The ‘Nefertiti Neck lift’ was named after and inspired by the elegant swan-like neck of the Egyptian Queen Nefertiti, who has long been considered as one of the most representative figures of beauty in history. This non-surgical neck lift helps define the jawline and tighten the neck skin whilst up turning the sides of the mouth, helping to combat sagging and the formation of jowls.

Extreme weight loss is also another cause for the platysma bands of the neck to project at any age. However, dieting aside, neck bands normally become more prominent with age as the neck loses its protective layer of padding, resulting in an aged appearance of the neck. Overexposure to the sun can also increase the appearance of neck bands.

What Are Neck Bands?

Located under the chin is a muscle called the platysma muscle, which is made up of a system of muscles (or bands) that extend from the upper portion of the chest to the lower jaw and part of the face. When in their prime, the platysmal bands in the neck hold the neck and jawline up nice and straight. But as you age, they can start to sag over time, causing what people refer to as ‘turkey neck’; a sagging excess of skin. Neck bands treatment such as a non-surgical neck lift can help to restore the youthful appearance around the neck.

How Long Does The Nefertiti Neck Lift Take To Work?

Nefertiti neck lift injections aim to smooth the neck and any banding of the neck. It can take a few weeks* to see full results and the treatment should be repeated every four months. These cosmetic injections take patience so the skin and muscles can work together to produce skin restructuring proteins that will eventually lift and tighten.

What Are The Risks?

Facial slimming and the Nefertiti neck lift offer only small potential risks of temporary smile weakening, however, this is uncommon. Neck band treatments may exhibit some bruising, but are usually small and subside relatively quickly. Dr Omarjee will also be able to answer any questions you may have surrounding associated risks and any concerns you may have.

How Much Does It Cost?

If you’re wondering how much anti-wrinkle injections cost, or if you want more information on the pricing of other non surgical anti aging treatments, Dr Omarjee is available to discuss all pricing and options with you during your first consultation.
