Tight Sculpting

Fotona TightSculpting - 1

Fat Loss & Skin Tightening

Looking for a treatment that both reduces unwanted, stubborn fat and tightens the lax skin left behind? Performed using the Fotona Dynamis laser system, TightSculpting treatments are designed to sculpt the body and tighten the skin. Fotona Dynamis is an advanced laser system that combines different wavelengths to achieve superior results.

The natural ageing process combined with modern lifestyles brings noticeable, undesirable changes to one’s body. Unwanted fat, cellulite, and skin laxity are the main reasons patients seek medical consultation. Over the recent years, there have been significant advances in technology in the treatment of localised fat deposits using energy-based devices such as lasers, radiofrequency (RF) and cryo-freezing. At The DOC Cosmetic & Skin Clinic, we have invested in the unique dual-process treatment called Fotona TightSculpting.

Fotona TightSculpting treatments use a two-step process to stimulate collagen and destroy fat cells. Utilising both Nd:YAG and Er:YAG wavelengths, TightSculpting offers a non-invasive, comfortable body contouring solution.

Please keep in mind that Fotona TightSculpting is for localised fat deposits and overlying skin treatments in appropriate patients. It is NOT suited for overweight patients as a weight loss solution and instead is more suited for patients who struggle to remove small pockets of fat, despite exercise and diet efforts.

Fotona TightScultping Modes

Fotona TightSculpting treatments are carried out using the cutting-edge T-Runner and L-Runner handpieces via an innovative two-step laser process developed by Fotona. By combining fat reduction with skin tightening, you can achieve a more toned, defined shape in the treated area.

1. Nd:YAG PIANO Pulse Mode

Using the L-Runner handpiece, heat energy is delivered deep beneath the skin’s surface to stimulate the metabolism of fat cells. Such bulk heating causes apoptosis of the fat cell (cell death), leading to permanent fat reduction. This process is facilitated by a Matrix view device (attached to L-runner handpiece), which relays live temperature changes of the skin during the treatment to obtain the optimum temperature for lipolysis. This step takes on average 15 to 25 mins per treatment area.

2. Er:YAG SMOOTH Pulse Mode

Using the T-Runner handpiece, the deeper and superficial layers of the skin are further heated to contract collagen fibres and initiate neocollagenesis. Over time, this works to improve skin smoothness, reduce skin laxity and diminish cellulite as collagen production continues to increase. This step utilises the groundbreaking SMOOTH modality of the laser. This Fotona development allows a precise, controlled sequence of high-temperature sub-millisecond heat shocks delivered safely to the skin surface by the T-Runner robotic handpiece. This step takes on average 15 to 30 mins per treatment area.

Fotona TightSculpting Treatment Process

Prior to your Fotona TightSculpting treatment, you will need to discuss your concerns, expectations and treatment options during a consultation at The DOC Clinic. During your consultation, Dr Omarjee will assess your areas of concern to determine whether you are a good candidate for Fotona TightSculpting.

Fotona TightSculpting treatments typically take between 30 and 60 minutes to complete, depending on the treated area. Dr Ed Omarjee will pass the laser handpieces over the treated area, delivering energy deep into your skin. You may resume your regular activities immediately after treatment.

Depending on the results you are hoping to achieve, you will require a minimum of four to six treatments, spaced two to three weeks apart. Many patients notice an immediate difference in the firmness of their skin, with results gradually improving after each subsequent treatment. While fat reduction with Fotona TightSculpting is permanent, the normal ageing process may interfere with skin tightening results, at which time follow-up sessions may be required.

Fotona TightSculpting Recovery

No downtime is required after a Fotona TightSculpting treatment, and patients are free to return to their usual daily activities directly after treatment. Some redness, swelling or tenderness may be present for a day or two, which normally does not impede with normal daily activities. Treatments will make your skin more sensitive to the sun, so you should apply an SPF 50+ to the treatment area daily.

Fotona TightSculpting FAQs

Is this treatment painful?

Patients will experience a warm, pinching sensation during their TightSculpting treatment; however, treatments are usually well tolerated. Dr Omarjee sometimes may apply a medical-grade topical compounded local anaesthetic cream 45 mins to one hour before the treatment to make the process more tolerable in certain areas.

How should I prepare for a Fotona TightSculpting treatment?

Patients should ensure that they don’t have any open wounds or active breakouts on the day of their treatment. You should also avoid any products with retinoids for a week before the treatment.

What areas can be treated with TightSculpting?

There are endless areas that Dr Ed Omarjee can focus on to reduce small pockets of fat and tighten the overlying skin. These can include the double chin area (submentum of the upper neck), lateral bra fat area, abdomen, flanks (“love handles”), lateral and inner thighs, to name some.

Are there any side effects to be aware of?

Patients may experience some mild swelling, redness and skin sensitivity following their Fotona TightSculpting session, but this is all normal and resolves within one to two days. In rare cases, skin irritation can occur, resulting in small bumps and rashes. Very rarely, infection, localised skin burns, and skin pigmentation changes could occur.

Am I a candidate for Fotona TightSculpting?

Fotona TightSculpting treatments are not a weight-loss solution. Instead, this treatment is designed for patients with stubborn pockets of unwanted fat, moderate skin laxity and mild cellulite. To determine whether you are a candidate for Fotona TightSculpting, please get in touch to organise a medical consultation at The DOC Clinic.

When will I see results?

Fat metabolism and collagen production both take time to come into effect. As such, it may take up to three and four months to see your final results. Your results are complemented by a good diet (e.g. low saturated fat, low sugar and lowered carbohydrate), daily exercise, daily water intake (at least two litres). And if possible, wearing a body corset for the length of the treatment process.

How many treatments will I need?

A series of four to six (minimum per area), spaced two to three weeks apart, is recommended for optimal results. In order to maintain skin tightening results, annual follow-up treatments will be required. You may also need additional treatments in future if extra weight is gained.

How much does it cost?

As every patient’s body is different, it is essential to examine the area of concern in a medical sense and deem if your concerning area of unwanted fat and associated skin laxity is best treated with Fotona TightSculpting. We provide a no-obligation thorough medical assessment at The DOC Cosmetic & Skin Clinic, where all your questions can be addressed and the costs of the treatment for you can be discussed.
