Facial Veins Laser
Treatment Melbourne

Concerns about facial veins may affect patients of different ages, though they tend to be more common with ageing. Veins can appear in various forms, from smaller spider veins to more visible vessels.

Facial veins are linked to changes in the capillaries and may appear on areas such as the cheeks, chin, or nose. At The DOC Clinic, Dr Ed Omarjee can discuss whether a laser-based approach is appropriate for your individual situation as part of a personalised treatment plan.

Disclaimer

All treatments require a formal consultation with Dr Omarjee prior to any treatment. During this consultation, patients' concerns are carefully assessed, and a personalised treatment plan is developed. This includes discussing the nature of the proposed treatment(s), alternative treatments, potential risks and relevant complications, aftercare instructions, and the costs involved. It also allows time for patients to ask questions.

Who may Consider Facial Vein Laser Treatment?

Patients who have visible vascular concerns on the face—such as rosacea, spider veins, or facial redness—may consider laser treatment as an option. The choice of wavelength often depends on the type and size of the veins being addressed.

At The DOC Clinic, the Fotona Nd:YAG 1064nm laser and Alma 532nm KTP laser are commonly used for these concerns. Additional systems, including the Cutera Excel V Plus (1064nm and 532nm dual laser system) and the Cutera XEO laser (1064nm and IPL system), may also be applied depending on the individual case.

During a consultation, Dr Ed Omarjee will assess your skin and health history to determine whether this approach is appropriate. Multiple sessions may be recommended, and treatment plans are tailored individually.

Your consultation with Dr Ed Omarjee

Before starting facial vein treatment, you will have an initial consultation. This is a private appointment where you can discuss your concerns, ask questions, and receive information about the procedure, including potential risks and recovery considerations.

During the consultation, Dr Ed Omarjee will collect relevant medical information to help determine whether laser treatment is appropriate for you. Suitability is assessed individually, and preparation such as using a high-SPF sunscreen may be recommended.

The Procedure

Treatment for facial veins is performed using medical-grade laser systems. Before the session begins, protective eyewear will be provided.

A treatment plan may involve different laser wavelengths, depending on the patient’s skin and the vessels being addressed. Dr Ed Omarjee will assess your skin type and medical history before deciding on the most appropriate approach. During the session, laser energy is directed at the targeted vessels, where it is absorbed and processed by the body over time.

Financing

The DOC Clinic is a private billing clinic. Fees charged are in line with AMA recommended rates for specialist consultations. The fee may vary according to the service provided to you on the day you are seen. We require full payment on the day of consultation, and accept cash, EFTPOS, Visa and MasterCard.

Cost of treatment for facial veins

Dr Omarjee will discuss the cost of facial vein laser treatment with you during your consultation. Because treatment is tailored, each patient may require a different approach, which can influence the overall cost.

When outlining costs, factors such as the treatment method, the duration, and the number of sessions will be considered. In some cases, patients with facial veins or redness may be eligible for a Medicare rebate, and eligibility can be assessed during your initial consultation.

Recovery & Aftercare

After treatment, Dr Ed Omarjee will provide instructions on how to care for your skin and reduce the chance of complications. The skin may be more sensitive, so a high-SPF sunscreen should be applied daily. You may also be advised to:

  • Avoid excessive exercise for 48 hours.
  • Avoid saunas and steam rooms for 48 hours.
  • Avoid harsh soaps, peels, and exfoliants for about one week.

Risks and Complications

Patients should be aware that, as with any cosmetic procedure, there are potential risks and side effects.

Common effects of laser treatment for facial veins may include:

  • Discomfort
  • Skin sensitivity
  • Redness and swelling

These effects may take a few days to resolve. Less common but more serious complications can also occur, such as infection, burns, eye injury, or changes in skin pigmentation. Dr Ed Omarjee will discuss these risks with you during your consultation.

Medicare coverage

Medically relevant consultations usually are eligible for a Medicare-specific refund. (Cosmetic consultations are not Medicare eligible.)
