What is Fraxel Laser Used For?
At The DOC Clinic, we offer Fraxel Dual laser sessions that use fractional photothermolysis technology. This technology delivers thousands of very fine laser columns to targeted areas of the skin while leaving surrounding tissue unaffected.
Fraxel laser can be used on the face and other areas such as the neck, hands, and chest. The system has two modes:
- 1927nm, which is commonly applied to more superficial skin concerns
- 1550nm, which is applied to deeper layers of the skin
The mode used, along with the area being treated, will guide the expected recovery process, which can vary between patients.
Disclaimer
All treatments require a formal consultation with Dr Omarjee prior to any treatment. During this consultation, patients' concerns are carefully assessed, and a personalised treatment plan is developed. This includes discussing the nature of the proposed treatment(s), alternative treatments, potential risks and relevant complications, aftercare instructions, and the costs involved. It also allows time for patients to ask questions.
Treatment Applications
Laser technology, such as Fraxel, can be applied in cosmetic practice for a variety of skin concerns. At The DOC Clinic, this treatment may be discussed in relation to:
- Changes in skin texture
- Fine lines
- Freckle reduction
- Acne scars
- Visible pigmentation
- Sun-related skin changes
- Enlarged pores
- Changes in skin tone

What to Expect with Fraxel
Responses to Fraxel laser sessions can vary between patients. In some cases, visible changes may be noticed earlier, while for others, changes may take more time.
Different Fraxel modes are applied depending on the concern being addressed. For example, the 1927nm wavelength is often used for more superficial concerns such as pigmentation or sun-related changes, while the 1550nm wavelength is directed at deeper layers of the skin.
If multiple sessions are recommended, these are usually scheduled several weeks apart. A treatment plan, including the number and timing of sessions, will be discussed with you during your consultation.
Medicare coverage
Medically relevant consultations usually are eligible for a Medicare-specific refund. (Cosmetic consultations are not Medicare eligible.)
