Laser Mole Removal
Melbourne

At The DOC Clinic, laser-based techniques may be used to address certain pigmented skin concerns, following a consultation and skin check with Dr Omarjee. Suitability is assessed individually to determine if this approach is appropriate.

Laser systems such as the RevLite SI Q-Switch, IDAS 532nm, and Cutera Excel V Plus (532nm) can be applied to selected pigmented lesions that are considered safe to treat. This includes flat moles and other pigmented marks assessed as suitable during consultation.

In addition to moles, laser treatments may also be discussed in relation to age spots, freckles, and visible sun-related changes. The treatment approach, number of sessions, and expected recovery will vary between patients and will be outlined during your appointment.

Disclaimer

All treatments require a formal consultation with Dr Omarjee prior to any treatment. During this consultation, patients' concerns are carefully assessed, and a personalised treatment plan is developed. This includes discussing the nature of the proposed treatment(s), alternative treatments, potential risks and relevant complications, aftercare instructions, and the costs involved. It also allows time for patients to ask questions.

What Technology Does Dr Omarjee Use?

At The DOC Clinic, Dr Omarjee uses a range of laser systems for mole and pigment-related concerns, following a consultation and skin check to confirm suitability. These include:

  • Excel V Plus – 532nm laser, which can be applied to superficial benign pigmented lesions
  • IDAS 532nm laser, which delivers short-pulsed light for targeted applications
  • Revlite Q switch (532nm and 1064nm), which is a ultra short pulsed laser system

Treatment planning, including whether these technologies are appropriate, is discussed during your consultation.

Laser Mole Removal at The DOC Clinic

Laser-based approaches can be discussed at The DOC Clinic for selected pigmented skin concerns. These sessions are non-surgical and use light-based technology to target pigmented areas assessed as safe to treat, while leaving surrounding skin unaffected.

Flat pigmented lesions may appear lighter after a series of sessions, although responses differ between patients. The RevLite laser is one of the technologies used at The DOC Clinic and may also be applied to other cosmetic concerns following consultation, including:

  • Pigmented lesions such as age spots, freckles, and birthmarks
  • Selected skin tags
  • Certain cosmetic pigmentation, such as melasma

Suitability for these applications, as well as the number of sessions required, will be discussed during your consultation.

What Type Of Pigment Can Be Treated?

At The DOC Clinic, laser-based approaches may be considered for certain pigmented concerns on areas such as the face, neck, chest, arms, hands, legs, and feet. Suitability is assessed during consultation to ensure lesions are safe for cosmetic treatment.

Laser systems like the Alma IDAS (KTP), Excel V Plus 532nm, and RevLite 532nm can be used on more superficial pigmentation. For pigmentation located deeper in the skin, Q-switch laser options such as the RevLite 532nm or 1064nm may be applied.
Dr Omarjee will advise on the most appropriate wavelength for your individual situation during your consultation.

Who Can Be Considered for This Procedure?

Laser-based approaches may be discussed for certain pigmented concerns across a range of skin types. Suitability is assessed individually, and the Fitzpatrick skin type test may be used as part of this process.

The consultation is the first step. During this appointment, Dr Ed Omarjee will review your skin history and examine each lesion with a dermatoscope to confirm that it appears benign. Only after this assessment can a treatment plan be considered.

What Can Be Expected?

Laser-based approaches may reduce the visibility of certain pigmented lesions that are assessed as safe to treat. The number of sessions, type of device, and degree of change can vary depending on factors such as skin type and the location of the lesion.

During your consultation, Dr Ed Omarjee will review your skin and explain what may be appropriate in your case. Temporary effects such as redness or sensitivity may occur after treatment, and the recovery experience differs between patients. Lesions that appear suspicious will not be treated with cosmetic laser and will be referred for medical assessment.

How Long Does It Take?

The time required for a laser mole removal session varies depending on the size and number of lesions being treated. A session may take around 15–30 minutes, but this can differ between patients.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

The number of laser sessions needed for mole or pigment concerns can vary. Factors such as skin type, the size of the lesion, and the area being treated may influence the treatment plan. After treatment, the pigment in the lesion may darken before changing in appearance over time. Whether additional sessions are considered will be discussed during your consultation.

Medically relevant consultations usually are eligible for a Medicare-specific refund. (Cosmetic consultations are not Medicare eligible.)
