NightLase Snoring Treatment Melbourne

YouTube video
What is Nightlase

NightLase is a non-surgical laser approach performed with the Fotona system. It focuses on the tissues at the back of the throat, an area linked to snoring. The Er:YAG wavelength is used in NightLase to deliver laser energy within the oral cavity.

Snoring often happens when the tissues in the throat relax and vibrate, which can become more common with age. NightLase is a non-surgical laser option that targets this area without the need for devices or medication. During your consultation, Dr Ed Omarjee will discuss whether this treatment is suitable for you and how it may fit into your care plan.

Disclaimer

All treatments require a formal consultation with Dr Omarjee prior to any treatment. During this consultation, patients' concerns are carefully assessed, and a personalised treatment plan is developed. This includes discussing the nature of the proposed treatment(s), alternative treatments, potential risks and relevant complications, aftercare instructions, and the costs involved. It also allows time for patients to ask questions.

NightLase Treatment Process

After a consultation with Dr Ed Omarjee, NightLase sessions may be recommended as part of your treatment plan. During the session, laser energy is applied to the tissues in the throat that are linked to snoring.

The number of sessions needed can differ. Some patients may be recommended multiple sessions over several weeks, with follow-up treatments considered at a later stage. The timing and frequency will be discussed with Dr Omarjee based on your individual needs.

NightLase Recovery

Recovery experiences after a NightLase session can differ from patient to patient. Some may feel comfortable resuming daily activities shortly after their session, while others may prefer to take extra time.

Temporary changes such as mild throat dryness or a gentle warming sensation can occur and may resolve over time. Dr Ed Omarjee will provide aftercare guidance that is specific to your needs and answer any questions you may have.

NightLase FAQs

What does a NightLase session feel like?

Patients often notice a warm sensation when the laser is applied to the tissues in the throat. If at any point the sensation feels uncomfortable, the session settings can be adjusted or paused.

What are the possible risks?

Experiences vary. Some patients report temporary throat dryness, mild soreness, or hoarseness after a session. These effects generally resolve over time. You’ll receive aftercare guidance and information on what to watch for.

Who can consider NightLase?

Patients seeking support for snoring concerns may discuss this option at a consultation. Suitability is assessed individually based on medical history and needs. If symptoms suggest a sleep disorder, you may be advised to seek further medical review.

Medicare coverage

Medically relevant consultations usually are eligible for a Medicare-specific refund. (Cosmetic consultations are not Medicare eligible.)
