What is Smooth Eye

SmoothEye is performed with the Fotona Dynamis laser system. It uses Erbium 2940nm energy in a specialised non-ablative mode called SmoothMode, designed for the delicate skin around the eyes.

You can choose to have SmoothEye sessions on their own or as part of a personalised plan discussed with Dr Ed Omarjee. This is a non-surgical approach and does not involve incisions.

Disclaimer

All treatments require a formal consultation with Dr Omarjee prior to any treatment. During this consultation, patients' concerns are carefully assessed, and a personalised treatment plan is developed. This includes discussing the nature of the proposed treatment(s), alternative treatments, potential risks and relevant complications, aftercare instructions, and the costs involved. It also allows time for patients to ask questions.

Smooth Eye Treatment Process

Your journey begins with a consultation with Dr Ed Omarjee, where your individual concerns will be discussed, and your skin carefully assessed. This first step is important to determine whether Fotona SmoothEye is suitable for you. Alternative options may also be discussed during this time.

On the day of the session, the skin around your eyes will be cleansed. It’s best to arrive without makeup. For safety, you should also avoid wearing contact lenses in the week following the procedure.

Protective measures are used throughout to keep your eyes safe. Some patients may feel a warm or prickling sensation during the treatment, while others may feel different levels of comfort. The length of a SmoothEye session can vary, depending on individual needs and circumstances.

Smooth Eye Recovery

After a SmoothEye session, it is common for the skin around the eyes to look slightly red for a short period, and some mild swelling may occur. The area may also feel dry, and light peeling can sometimes happen in the days following the treatment.

To protect the treated area, it’s recommended to avoid heat exposure for the first couple of days. Daily use of sunscreen is important to help protect the skin.

Recovery needs can vary from patient to patient. Some patients may notice changes in their skin soon after their session with Dr Ed Omarjee, while for others, changes may take longer to become visible.

Smooth Eye FAQs

How many SmoothEye sessions will be required?

The number of sessions varies for each patient. Some may need several sessions spaced over time, while others may require fewer. During your consultation, Dr Ed Omarjee will discuss a plan that best suits your individual needs.

Do SmoothEye sessions have any side effects?

Temporary changes such as redness, slight swelling, or light flaking can occur after treatment. These usually settle within a short period, but the experience is different for everyone. Dr Omarjee will provide aftercare guidance to support your recovery.

How does SmoothEye work?

SmoothEye uses laser technology in a mode designed for the delicate skin around the eyes. This approach delivers heat to the skin’s surface layers.
