What is Exion?
Exion uses a patented combination of monopolar radiofrequency energy (RF), targeted ultrasound and artificial intelligence to deliver precise energy superficial and/or deep into the dermis, stimulating collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. The device is customisable for various skin types and concerns.

Exion offers 4 different handpieces, providing treatment options for different cosmetic goals:
- Fractional RF handpiece – This promotes sub-dermal remodelling in both the face and body using a specialised AI pulse control for increased accuracy.
- Face handpiece – This technology stimulates hyaluronic acid non-invasively. It uses a dual energy to harness the body’s natural processes and encourage an increase in skin hydration.
- Body handpiece – This device has two different applications, one to target localised fat and another to treat skin laxity. The thermal effects break down fat tissue and treat skin looseness..
- Clear handpiece – This RF device targets the skin’s superficial layers to treat skin tone and texture.

Who is a Candidate
Candidates for Exion treatment are those seeking to improve their skin tone, texture, firmness, or overall quality. It’s best suited for people with a cosmetic concern such as:

What to Expect
Each session takes approximately 30–45 minutes. Most patients describe the sensation as warm with light pressure. Mild redness and mild swelling may occur for a few days after RF Exion treatments, but usually, a few hours of mild redness for Exion Face.
Is Exion safe?
Exion is TGA-listed and approved for medical aesthetic use.
How many sessions will I need?
We recommend an initial course of four treatments spaced one to two weeks apart, and you can expect to see changes at three months. Maintenance sessions every six to 12 months are often advised. – this is totally not correct – this is the plan for emface.
Exion varies depending on issue treated or patients concert- so it’s bespoke upon medical consultation. Rf needing usually would be repeated every 2-3 months apart (for example – acne scarring issues)
Rejuvenation for hyaluronic acid stimulation – with face applicator would be repeated every 2-3 weeks apart for several visits then have a maintenance program which is deduced post medical consult
Is there any downtime?
Mild redness for a few hours is common. Most people resume normal activities the same day.
Can Exion be combined with other treatments?
Yes, Dr Ed may combine Exion with wrinkle or volume treatments, depending on your skin goals. Other energy modalities may also be incorporated into your treatment plan, such as HIFU. Your treatment plan is discussed and formulated with you after your initial consultation and assessment of your concerns.
Is Exion available at both clinics?

What is Exion and how does it work?
Exion is an aesthetic technology that combines radiofrequency (RF) energy and focused Ultrasound energy with artificial intelligence (AI)-guided delivery. It offers different options to remodel skin tissue at multiple depths.
What makes Exion different from other RF treatments?
Unlike traditional or basic RF devices, Exion adapts its energy output based on skin resistance in real-time (via AI technology). This means greater consistency, especially for sensitive or uneven areas like under the eyes or neck. It is also generally less painful than other RF devices.
Is Exion suitable for all skin types?
Yes, Exion is suitable for all Fitzpatrick skin types. Its AI-adaptive technology allows precise energy delivery without overheating or over-treating the skin.
Does Exion hurt?
Most patients describe the sensation as a warm pressure or light prickling.
What areas can be treated with Exion?

How many sessions will I need?
Acne scarring: Multiple treatments are usually required. Radiofrequency (RF) needling treatments are generally spaced 2–3 months apart.
Improving the appearance of fine lines and skin firmness: Several treatments with the face applicator are typically recommended, spaced a few weeks apart. After this initial series, regular maintenance sessions every few months can help maintain results.
When will I see results?
You may notice subtle changes after the second session. However, peak results typically occur about 12 weeks after your final session as new collagen and hyaluronic acid production continues. Results may vary between patients.
How long do results last?
Results last six to 12 months, depending on your skin condition, age, and lifestyle. Maintenance sessions every six to 12 months are often advised to preserve your results.
Is there any downtime?
Exion has minimal downtime. You might experience mild redness or swelling, which usually resolves within hours. You can return to most activities the same day.
What should I avoid after treatment?
Avoid hot showers, saunas, exercise, and active skincare products for 24 hours post-treatment. Use sunscreen and a gentle hydrating moisturiser. Dr Ed will advise you of your specific after-care requirements.
Can I combine Exion with other treatments?
Yes. Exion can be combined with wrinkle treatments, volume restoration, or light-based (lasers) therapies in a staged treatment plan. Dr Ed will advise based on your treatment plan. It can also be combined it with EmFace or Ultraformer 3 (HIFU) if required.
Is Exion good for under-eye treatment?
Yes. One of the unique advantages of Exion is its ability to treat delicate areas like the under-eye zone for skin texture and tightness.
Who is not suitable for Exion?
Exion is not suitable for those who are pregnant, have open skin wounds or infections in the treatment area, or have certain implanted electronic devices (e.g. pacemakers, cochlear implants, defibrillators).
Can Exion help with acne scars?

How does Exion stimulate hyaluronic acid naturally?
Exion RF works in the deep dermis where it encourages fibroblasts to produce more natural hyaluronic acid—promoting hydration and skin elasticity. Exion also has a handpiece (Exion-Face) that promotes hyaluronic acid in the dermis via RF and ultrasound energy.
Is Exion non-invasive?
It can be. Exion includes a non-invasive RF handpiece for superficial skin treatment and HA stimulation. It also includes an applicator for deeper structural treatment (localised skin tightening and scar remodelling).
Will I peel or scab after the treatment?
Not typically. Exion is designed to minimise trauma to the outer skin layer. Some mild flaking may occur in some patients.
Is there any risk of pigmentation?
The risk is very low, especially compared to lasers. Exion’s AI adjusts power output to avoid overheating, making it suitable even for darker skin tones.
How long is each session?
